Anaesthesia Research 2019 will, for the first time, bring together the following partners for one joint event:

- Academic Research Society (ARS) / BJA Research Forum
- Health Services Research Centre (HSRC)
- UK Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network (POMCTN)
Registration fees:
Consultant - £87.50 for 1 day, £175 for 2 days
Reduced fees are available for QuARCs, trainees, medical students and allied health professionals.

Opportunities to present at Anaesthesia Research 2019
Alongside a packed agenda with speakers including Professor Rory O'Connor (Leeds), Dr Cecilia Vindrola (London), and Professor Hilary Bekker (Leeds), there are also multiple opportunities for researchers at all levels to present their own work at Anaesthesia Research 2019 including posters, abstracts and trial proposals.

NIAA Grants 2019 Round 2 call
There's now just over a week until the deadline for the final research grants round of this year. Applications must be submitted by noon on Friday 20 September 2019.
Funding is available from these NIAA partners:
- Association of Anaesthetists/Anaesthesia research grants up to £80,000
- BJA/RCoA project grants up to £70,000 or (exceptionally) up to £100,000, plus 3-year non-clinical PhD studentships available
- BJA/RCoA/College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland (CAI) collaborative research grants up to €100K (~£89.5k)
- DAS project grants up to £15,000 and small grants up to £5,000
- NACCS project grants up to £20,000
- RA-UK project grants up to £10,000

NIAA Grants consultation survey
If you have ever applied for research funding through the NIAA we will have sent you an email asking you to complete a short online survey giving your views on the NIAA grants process.
As we have now been awarding anaesthetic and perioperative research grant funding for over a decade, we are conducting an overall grants review and are contacting past applicants for feedback on their experiences of applying for and holding a grant awarded through the NIAA.
If you have not already participated in the survey, and for more information, take a look at our website to click the link to the survey and let us know your thoughts. All responses provided to the survey questions will be confidential. We look forward to your input.
Recruitment: PCPIE Deputy Chair
The NIAA-HSRC's Patient, Carer & Public Involvement & Engagement (PCPIE) Group provides clinical researchers with the opportunity to seek feedback and guidance on their project from a patient or lay perspective.
The HSRC is recruiting a Deputy who will work alongside the Chair - Dr Joyce Yeung - to support the clinical activities of the PCPIE Group. The role is a 3-year voluntary position with no remuneration however all reasonable expenses will be covered.
Dr Yeung says It is truly a privilege to work closely with the PCPIE group. Our patient and public members always remind us what is most important in clinical research. This is a great learning opportunity for the right person!

MRC Research Board and Panel Recruitment 2020
The Medical Research Council supports high-quality research and training across the biomedical spectrum, from fundamental lab-based science to clinical trials, in all major disease areas, and is inviting applications to join its boards and panels from 1 April 2020.
They are particularly encouraging submissions from currently under-represented groups female and ethnic minority researchers and from researchers with disabilities. For more information and to apply click here.
MRC Translational Research Evaluation Report
Since 2008 the Medical Research Council has allocated over £530m of new funding to a programme of initiatives directed towards supporting early phase, academic-led, translational research projects.
As a way of assessing the translational research landscape across this period to date the MRC commissioned a study to look at the outcomes of completed translational projects, comparing different elements of the programme and contrasting them with output from the rest of their research portfolio.
