New call for HTA proposals and important information for all applicants

New calls for research from the Health Technology Assessment programme:

1: The HTA Programme is launching a new initiative to potentially commission a number of varied research proposals under the same research brief. The first 'broader brief' to be advertised is in the field of sciatica.

Primary Research - Two stage (outline to full proposal)

12/201 Management of sciatica (lumbosacral radiculopathy) and suspected sciatica

The deadline for broader brief submissions is 1pm on Friday 1 February 2013.
Applicants will be advised as to whether their outline applications have been shortlisted in March 2013.

2: New calls for research

Submission deadline: 1pm on Tuesday 18 December 2012
Evidence Synthesis - Single stage full proposal

12/187 Integrated multi-agency treatment interventions for substance abusing parents or carers and their children

12/203 What are the impacts and likely impacts of Cochrane Reviews published over the past five years by Cochrane Review Groups (CRGs) that are supported by the NIHR?

Primary Research - Two stage (outline to full proposal)

12/189 Enhanced care for new onset depression after a cardiac event

12/196 Rehabilitation after joint replacement of the knee for chronic arthropathy

12/200 Dressings for the prevention of surgical site infection

12/202 Sound therapy plus counselling for tinnitus

Evidence Synthesis applicants will be advised as to whether their applications have been recommended for funding in April 2013 for applications to 12/187 and February 2013 for applications to 12/203.

Primary Research applicants will be advised as to whether their outline applications have been shortlisted in March 2013.

12/195 Validation of a risk prediction model for ocular hypertension

12/197 Treating bedwetting in children

12/199 Complex decongestive therapy for women with breast-cancer related lymphoedema of the arm
