NIHR Portfolio Status

nihr-logo

Many studies funded via the NIAA are adopted onto the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Portfolio and are eligible for support from the NIHR Local Clinical Research Networks.

The NIAA was awarded non-commercial partner status with the NIHR in 2009.

The CLRNs are supported by national specialty groups and further information about the Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine & Pain Management specialty group can be found below.

In order to be eligible, awards should meet the following criteria:

  • Award research funds as a result of open competition across England with high quality peer review
  • Fund research that is of clear value to the NHS
  • Takes appropriate account of priorities, needs and realities of the NHS in deciding what research they fund.

Applicants are reminded that it is very difficult for a study to be placed on the portfolio if NIAA funding is awarded after the study has gone through the approval process, via Trust R&D rather than via the CLRN. You are strongly advised not to get approval before you apply for funding.

Successful applicants should contact their CLRN as soon as the award is made and work with them to obtain approval and support.
